Analyst/Associate Consultant - Executive Compensation
Hay Group currently has an opening for an Analyst or Associate Consultant – Executive Compensation in our San Francisco office.
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide research and analytical support to the Senior Consultants and Consultants throughout the West Coast region. Candidates will support the growth of the consulting practice by assisting with thought leadership research, conference presentations, and written content and by directly participating in business development activities. This position provides the opportunity to work with high profile clients in dynamic industries including technology, life sciences, alternative energy. Principal Accountabilities include:
• Providing analytical, conceptual, and process support services to clients and to the Consultants.
• Generating billings revenue by conducting assigned analyses, writing and preparing reports, and assisting clients in implementing desired changes.
• Becoming proficient in Hay Group methodologies by attending assigned seminars, participating in consulting projects, reading and researching relevant literature.
• Preparing compensation conclusions and recommendations on a wide variety of projects. Typical assignments involve cash and equity-based compensation.
• Preparing draft reports and final reports for clients, including exhibits, summaries, and recommendations.
• Ability to take direction from multiple consultants and balance expectations of various projects.
• Supporting thought leadership and market-facing efforts through research and preparation for conference presentations, webcasts, audiocasts, and articles.
• Providing sales and marketing support for the West Coast region business development activities.
Qualifications:
• This position requires a four-year college degree, preferably in Finance, Business, Mathematics or Human Resources. Additional formal education (i.e. MBA, MA, MS) preferred.
• CCP, CEP, CFA, or other professional certification a plus.
• Ideal candidate will have at least three years in the compensation field with direct exposure to executive compensation.
• Experience analyzing data from published and proprietary surveys and information from SEC filings including proxy statements, 8-Ks, and Form 4s.
• Understanding of equity-based compensation analysis including overhang and run rate, alternative methods of valuation, detailed plan provisions.
• Demonstrated experience in the following areas: research, analysis and planning skills, strategic, organization and problem solving skills and experience.
• Ability to develop complex spreadsheet models for compensation analysis and design.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and interpersonal and presentation skills for interaction with members of Boards of Directors and C-level executives.
• Proficiency in MS Office: must have advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Access.
• Ability to adapt tactics to excel in a culture with a high degree of ambiguity.
• High degree of self-confidence as a proven performer.
• Focus on client needs by acting to make concrete attempts to add value for the client.
• Strong work ethic and a personal commitment to excellence including the ability to balance multiple priorities and provide immediate response to client inquiries at all times.
